hindu?

I simply don't understand how someone can choose a religion like that over something like christianity. They have over like 330 million gods and I think it's much simpler to believe in only one. I grew up my whole life with christianity so its hard for me to understand why they believe in what they do but I'm sure it must make some sense to them. In my opinion there isn't enough of a solid story behind the religion for anyone to believe in it but I suppose some are forced to believe.

The Qur'an

Studying the Qur'an helped me to better understand the muslum religion and their attitude towards life. The chapter of the Qur'an that we as a class read centered around one main statement: Allah is all powerful and he knows whats best for you. Repeatedly the author of the chapter uses phrases like Allah knows all, Allah sees what you do, and Allah is the mighty lord of peace. By doing this we can assume that they want to leave the reader with the impression of allah having complete control. Also the author says that Allah's wrath will pour upon the unbelievers as if to instill a sort of fear or warning to tell the reader that if they dont believe they will be punished by Allah himself. The Qur'an also seems to support fighting in the first sentence in the second to last section of the chapter by saying that it is good for you. Also there is a whole section of the chapter devoted to making fun of christianity and putting christians down by saying that we dont know anything. All in all I learned a lot by reading this chapter of the qur'an and it was worth reading.

Iliad vs. Troy

I think that when troy was made, it followed the iliad through many aspects and didn't through others but over all I enjoyed the movie very much. I think that one of the biggest differences between the book and movie is that in troy there is no use of the gods to help the charecters but in the iliad the gods were used all the time to allow the main charecters to gain an advantage over their enemies. Another difference between the two is that in the iliad, it describes the greek army as having over one thousand ships but in the movie, the directors only used about two hundred. these are the two main differences that I noticed between the iliad and troy.

Strategy and Success Blog

1. I enjoy this class because many of my friends are in the class and it makes things easier to discuss when it is with your friends. Also the teacher is fun to have conversations with.

2. at first my greatest disapointment was learning that we had to blog because I had never done it before and thought it would be boring but then I found out it wasn't that bad. Now that I enjoy blogging I don't really have any disapointments in the class.

3. I usually look over the test material for a while the night before a test andthen again before class starts and any other time the teacher gives us.

4. I definately am a kinesthetic learner which is why I love to try new sports and activities whenever I can because it is a new experience and I learn something new.

the wizard of oz

In this amazing movie, dorathy the main charecter is sent to a magical land where all of the people are under rule from a wicked witch. The only problem is that she accidentally killed the wicked witches sister and now she has to find her way home with an evil witch trying to kill her. Along the way she befreinds a scarecrow with no brain, a tin man with no heart, and a lion with no courage. She eventually defeats the wicked witch and travels to the wizard of oz who helps them. The wizard gives the scarecrow a brain, the tin man a heart, the lion courage, and Dorathy a ride home.
In the movie the clearest archetype is journey/quest because of the objective trying to be accomplished. The wizard in the movie is a perfect example of the wise old man archetype . Sidekick is also an archetype that is used through the scarecrow, tin man, and lion. The witch in the story is an excelent example of a trickster because she does everything she can to stop Dorathy from going home.
This movie truely is a unique film in my opinion because on top of containing unique charecters and personalities, it also represents what God does for us. The fairy in the story represents Jesus and the witch represents how the devil does everything he can to keep us from the kingdom of God.
